Beyond the Visible
When I close my eyes, I see what others cannot; a land, a place, a being, a multitude of vibrancy. I see Life. I feel Life. Every time I go into a training session, I learn about My Self. I see my mind traveling across my body, stretching itself out unto the vast and complex network of nerve wiring and intricate muscular leverages I use and develop.
With every rep, comes a realization; that I am the hero of my own tale. That my modern adaptation of a fairy tale is this: become the best version, physically mentally and emotionally that you can possibly be.
With every movement I make, my mind goes into the muscle, it works with it, it seeks pain and reward, it awaits feedback, it uses control over the muscle while immersing entirely inside the muscle. Control and immersion of the mind into the body is paramount to the idea that I can create the best me that I can be.
But my mind doesn’t stay there. Once the training is over, the other part of bodybuilding begins; the overall and all-encompassing mindset responsible for progress and evolution. The mind then seeks, measures and enjoys a ride that has checkpoints, achievements and goals and it requires a great amount of determination and confidence.
Speaking of confidence, bodybuilding doesn’t encourage insecurities (as it might be believed), not for me; or at least, not anymore. Bodybuilding is providing me with the perfect outlet to express the Self inside.
Bruce Lee once said “to express yourself truly and honestly…that my friend, is really hard to do”. And it is a very valid affirmation; Bodybuilding, as many other sports, can be the form in which one can express with a great deal of artificial tricks. It is easy to say that never is enough or that being “the best” requires that you develop a false self, denouncing yourself of values, behaving differently than desired, only to occupy a better placing in the world of bodybuilding, regardless of how you define this “world”.
But to express yourself through bodybuilding honestly, without artificial endeavors means that you give up anything that you personally don’t believe in, removing all that is not intrinsically important to your being, all the while working to become the best version you desire to become!
To accept nothing short of greatness does not mean that you have to dance a certain dance; it means you get to play your own music.
In the words of the great Enigma:
“ Close your eyes
Just feel and realize
It is real and not a dream
I’m in you and you’re in me
It is time
To break the chains of life
If you follow you will see
What’s beyond reality”
